I have just received a ElderShield package. What
should I do?
You need not do anything if you wish to join ElderShield.
Premium will be deducted from your Medisave account. The
policy document is enclosed in your package for your reference.
We encourage you to join the scheme as it protects you in
your golden years at an affordable rate.

Whose Medisave account can I use to pay the premiums
of ElderShield?
You can use the Medisave of your spouse, children,
parents or grandchildren.

Will premium increase with age?
Premium is fixed at age at entry. However, the
premium includes GST which is subject to future revision.

Can I opt out now and opt in again
later?
Yes, but you will be subjected to underwriting
on your existing disabilities and medical conditions. There
will also be no government subsidy on your premiums.

I'm an existing Great Eastern policyholder. Will
I receive the letter from Great Eastern?
Not necessarily. Your name will be randomly assigned
to either Great Eastern or NTUC Income.

How do I renew my ElderShield plan every year?
Renewal is done automatically every year, unless
otherwise instructed by policyholder in writing. We will
deduct from the Medisave account automatically every year
on the 18th of the following month (e.g. if your policy
commencement date fall on 30th September, the deduction
will take place on 18th October).

How do I know that my premium has been successfully
deducted from Medisave account?
CPF will send a confirmation letter to the account
holder upon each deduction.

Will Permanent Resident receive government subsides?
No.

I do not have a CPF account, how can I open one
to qualify for ElderShield?
To qualify for auto-coverage under ElderShield,
kindly open your CPF account 3 months before the commencement
date of the policy. You just need to visit either the CPF
Board office at Robinson Road or any of the four branches
at Bishan, Woodlands, Jurong or Tampines. You have to go
during office hours and take your IC with you. Alternatively,
you may mail a cheque to CPF Board at 79 Robinson Road,
Singapore 068897, stating the following: 1) Name 2) NRIC
number and 3) it is for Voluntary contribution. The fees
to open a CPF account is $1.
